WELCOME TO VENEZUELAN PROFILES
This project was inspired in the Australia traditional storytelling, handed down from generation to generation. Since the beginning of time (the Dreaming) storytelling played a vital role in Australian Aboriginal culture, one of the world’s oldest cultures. Aboriginal children were told stories from a very early age; stories that helped them understand the air, the land, the universe, their people, their culture and their history.
Elders told stories of their journeys and their accomplishments. As the children grew into adults they took on the responsibility of passing on the stories. These stories are as much a cultural necessity as they are entertainment and are still passed on orally though many are now recorded in print, audio and video.
Venezuelan Profiles is about our Venezuelan storytelling, how the immigration experience has shaped our recent history. What we had learned living overseas, raising our families between cultures and other paradigms. Are we more tolerant with different cultures? Would this experience help us to reconciliate with our past?
Venezuelan Profiles just want to contribute with the Venezuelan history, documenting this social process and hoping to add some light for future generations, young people asking themselves, how we get spread around the world?
Venezuela is a country mainly know for oil, iron, gold, beautiful women and political turmoil; but all those elements could passed or change, and for sure it would remain the main wealth of this beautiful country, its people, the Venezuelans.
Let us show and share Venezuelan history through their protagonists, the Venezuelan profiles.
